OMORO: 21-yr-old commits suicide after mother refuses him to marry

According to police reports, most suicide cases in Acholi are due to domestic violence, depression, diseases and failure to pay debt.

OMORO | HOMICIDE:- A 21-year-old man in Omoro district has committed suicide by hanging after his mother reportedly rejected his wife.

Denis Ojok, a resident of Ogwari village in Odek Sub County was found hanging dead on a tree at around 8:00am by a farmer who was going to his garden.

Charles Ojok Oyat, the Local Council One Chairperson Ogwari village told Daily Express that Ojok has for long had misunderstandings with the mother, Alice Alwedo who had told him not bring home a wife since he is still young, something which the deceased opposed to saying he feels he is ready to marry.

Oyat furthered to our reporter that the mother had earlier rejected the deceased’s two other women he brought home.

What triggered the deceased to hang up by rope was when his mother chased away the third woman while he was in Oyam for work.

Omoro District Police Commander, Hassan Mugerwa Katumba was not available to comment on the matter by presstime.
