The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have on Friday March 26, commenced with a briefing of P.7 candidates at over 14,000 examination centres across the country. The exercise was conducted by the heads of schools.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), a total of 749,811 candidates are registered to sit for PLE.
By gender, girls are the majority at 53% (395,855) while 353,956 (47%) are female.
Over 68% of this year’s candidates (513,091) are products of the Universal Primary Education program, UNEB revealed.
The candidates will write their first exam on Monday, March 29, beginning with Mathematics, Social Studies and Religious Education.
Candidates will conclude with Integrated Science and English on Tuesday, March 30.
