Five police officers critically injured in car crash

The accident happened on Thursday at the Y-junction on the Nyakwae and Moroto-Kotido road, some 45km northwest of Moroto town.

At least five police officers are nursing serious injuries sustained in a car crash in Napak district, the Daily Express has learnt.

The fatal accident happened on Thursday at the Y-junction on the Nyakwae and Moroto-Kotido road, some 45km northwest of Moroto town.

The critically injured officers are now admitted at Matany Missionary Hospital in Napak district.

A one Kalistus who witnessed the incident, narrated that the police patrol car double cabin Hilux Reg. UP 5592 was overspeeding when he veered off the road two kilometers away from Lopei trading centre located along the Moroto-Kotido road.

He said the five police officers who were on board were critically injured and later transferred to Matany Hospital.

Kalistus said the officers were traveling from Abim district towards Moroto when the overspeeding car overturned several times.

Without naming the victims or the type of injuries sustained, Mt. Moroto Regional police Commander Francis Chemusito has revealed that the officers are receiving treatment at a missionary hospital in Matany, Napak district

This reporter has since established that the victims are part of the advance team in preparation of the likely full blast disarmament that could kick off in Karamoja in the next 21 days.
