ARUA: Pastor electrocuted climbing jackfruit tree

VURRA COUNTY | ARUA – A 46 year old man in Arua died on an instant after being electrocuted while trimming branches of a jack fruit tree around the home of his mother.

Pastor Hosea Ago’bia of Revival Tabernacle of Harvester’s Ministries at Ovisoni town board,Vurra subcounty,Arua district met his fate on Friday 26th March 2021.

According to eye witnesses, Agobia climbed to trim off some branches of a jack fruit tree around his mother’s home in Ezuku Ayivu village which lies just two metres away from a high voltage electric wire that connects to the home of former Member of parliament for Vurra county, and the former state minster for transport, the Late Andruale Awuzu.

Reports suggest that a  branch off the tree fell and leaned on one of the electric wires causing a short circuit, and hence instantly killing the pastor.

The WestNile Electricity company (Wenreco) workers arrived at the scene following a power blackout in the region as a result of the short circuit,and they had to cut off the tree branches that caused trouble.

Vurra police arrived at the scene and took the body of the deceased to Arua regional referral hospital for post mortem.

The police urged people near electric poles to always contact the electricity company to carry out any tree cutting near electricity lines,to avoid such fatal accidents.
