The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has accused Malawi officials for tampering with COVID-19 result of midfielder Taddeo Lwanga in a bid to frustrate the Uganda Cranes team ahead of their decisive match later today.
According to FUFA, Lwanga tested negative as per the results certificate where as the COVID-19 officers in malawi claim the player tested positive and could therefore miss out on today’s encounter.
‘We are aware of the irregularity raised by our Medical team in regard to the Covid-19 tests of @taddeolwanga. Two tests have returned different results. We have written to CAF about this matter raising the concerns’ – FUFA said in a tweet.
FUFA has since written and requested CAF to consider the results from the SADC Accredited Laboratory which is all under the same Management as Queens Central Hospital.
Uganda take on Malawi in a decisive match today with the Cranes only needing least a draw to seal their third successive AFCON qualification.
The match will be played at 19:00Hrs (EAT).
