KAMPALA: Organisers of Miss Tourism Uganda pageant have kicked off search for the next beauty queen.
During the pageant launch at the Uganda Museum on Thursday, Allan Kanyike Bwette the Franchise’s Chief Executive Officer said that this year’s edition will be held under the theme African Pride which is aimed at promoting Uganda’s culture.
Unlike the previous Miss Tourism editions which saw 12 representatives from different regions, this year’s pageant race will see only nine regional representatives from Buganda, Busoga, Ankole, Eastern, West Nile, Tooro, Bunyoro, Karamoja and Teso.
The regional search will kick off in July and here participants will be crowned at the regional levels before competing at the national level.
And before the national competition, the nine regional queens will undergo training in a boot camp, to equip them with knowledge about tourism, conservation and prepare them as tourism ambassadors.
After receiving all the required training and knowledge on tourism, they will then face off for the Miss Tourism crown in an event which will take place at Kampala Serena Hotel on October 1.
Sonia Komugisha is the current Miss Tourism.
