Southern Range Nyanza Limited popularly known as Nytil has donated a total of 30,000 face-masks to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) frontline workers.
The donation was handed over to KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago at a function held at City Hall on Thursday July 1.
Nytil’s Head of Marketing Jimmy Mutesasira said that the donation is a campaign launch to support essential workers.
“We are glad to work with KCCA to help fight the pandemic and this is the launch of our campaign to support essential workers in our efforts to fight the spread of the virus,” he said.
The campaign aims to donate other items like bedsheets and protective gear.
“These items will be donated to hospitals and vendors who sleep in markets during this second COVID-19 lockdown,” he added.
Lukwago thanked Nytil for supporting KCCA in the fight against the pandemic.
“We are excited for this wonderful contribution towards the fight against Covid-19 and appreciate this gesture of responding to our call,” he said.
In her remarks, Dorothy Kisaka said the donation will help in boosting KCCA’s efforts in fighting the virus.
“Kampala has been identified as a centre of the virus but the donation will help in supporting our frontline workers,” she said.
