Police at Kyambogo University have launched a manhunt for unknown iron bar hitmen responsible for killing Kyambogo College School teacher.
Naboth Mpeirwe, a Biology and Chemistry teacher was reportedly attacked by a group of thugs at the baseball court of Kyambogo University who had the intention of robbing him. However, during the scuffle, he was hit with a blunt object on the head which left him unconscious.
According to James Thembo, a resident in Kyambogo says that the thugs who were about three in number waylaid Naboth a few meters from the playground while he was heading to his home at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
“They hit him on the head and took his phone and wallet. His colleagues picked him near the school gate when he over bleeding and rushed him Band medical clinic,” Thembo said.
Police detective Samuel Nuwamanya, the head of Criminal Investigations at Kyambogo University police post said Naboth was transferred to Life Link in Zaana where he succumbed to injuries.
Nuwamanyi who couldn’t divulge details on the incident said the hunt for the attackers has started.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire declined to comment saying he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
According to the annual crime police report compiled by the Criminal Investigations Directorate, 4,460 people were killed in 2020 through shooting, assault, poisoning, arson, or mob action.
