You could have heard about the people who rose to fame, from grass to grace without meeting them, here is a chance for you to get in touch with Adongo Mercy who is currently in a campaign drive to raise funds for sanitary pads to save a girl child in the sub-regions of Teso, Karamoja, and Sebei.
Adongo Mercy, aged 21 was born in Gawa village, Tilling parish in Ngora district in Eastern Uganda. Adongo who grew up in the hands of a single parent (her mother) attended Kichinjali Primary school and Pioneer Primary school in Soroti for her Primary. She later enrolled for her secondary education at Olila High in Soroti, before joining Kibuli Secondary School and Kakungulu Memorial schools in Kampala for both O’ and A’levels. Mercy didn’t stop there, she got admitted at YMCA Comprehensive Institute where she is currently pursuing her course in Fashion and Design.
Adongo Mercy believes that having grown from her single parent (her mother), she experienced all that it takes to help the girl child. ” I witnessed young girls being abused and above all, my twin sister being a victim of circumstance” Mercy recalls.
Adongo’s story changed when she was taken to live under the care of a charitable organization (compassion Uganda) with the support of a kind lady called Katie from Canada. Mercy says all that changed her perception on how to handle situations in the day to day life.
Her current occupation is a travel enthusiast who loves nature, besides, Mercy is also an entrepreneur, environmental activist, and child/youth activist.
Mercy is a beauty queen and the reigning Miss Eco-Tourism World Uganda 2021/2022. She has also participated in quite a number of pageants; in 2018, she has crowned the Miss Teso Carnival which was held in Forest Mall Lugogo. She also participated in Miss Teen Globe Uganda and she was crowned Queen and among others.
One of my dreams is to start up a foundation that will put the concerns of the girl child at heart especially in the less privileged communities and rebuild the girl child.
Mercy Adongo the Teso beauty queen is currently under the management of Sharon Isenged an educationist at Rainbow International school, a businesswoman and a youth activist commonly referred to as Shasha Bree based in Kampala (Uganda)
Being a focused young lady, Mercy is determined to support the vulnerable girls in Teso, Karamoja, and Sebei sub-regions.
