KAMPALA, UGANDA: Makerere University has revealed the dates on which continuing students are expected to resume their classes as the whole country gears up for the proposed reopening of schools.
Addressing the acting Guild Speaker Rt Hon. Angel Kampi, Makerere’s Prof Umar Kaumba revealed that the university is set to resume studies end of this month in a phased reopening.
“I wish to clarify that the official opening dates for Semester Two 2020/2021 are 30 September 2021 (for finalist students) and 3rd October 2021 (for all First years and Continuing Students),” the letter reads in part.
The dual dates, approved by the Senate were necessitated by the delayed completion of Semester One 2020/21 Examinations for the latter group and the need for a phased opening of semester occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
