”Our district is neighbouring two countries that is Kenya and Tanzania which has caused our population to increase since some people cross from either sides entering Uganda and settling in Namayingo. We urge government to increase the number of Health workers in our district such that everyone patient can be handled with swift care,” Ssebide said.

Health Workers started the day with cleaning Namayingo town and Buyinja health center IV before holding their function at the facility on Thursday, October 21.

Ssebidde also blamed parents and guardians who have abandoned their responsibilities by involving their children in street vending of Maize, groundnuts, Oranges, sweet banana, among other items saying that it has affected girl children who have since been impregnated by men in Namayingo town.

”Parents and guardians have not managed their responsibilities well since many have involved their children in street vending, a point which has exposed young girls to pregnancy by men in the town,” Ssebide said adding that boy children should also be guided not to involve in works which may block them from attending school next year as a result of getting some money.

David Bwire, Councillor representing people with disabilities in Namayingo said that they continue having less health workers despite being a district with more hard-to-reach areas and surrounded by lake Victoria. He urged government to train some people within Namayingo to manage health facilities in hard-to-reach areas.

”We have less health workers and Namayingo is a hard-to-reach district and some areas are surrounded by Waters which makes such areas not easy to access, but you find a good number of health workers in districts like Iganga, Mayuge and others which are not surrounded by Water”

”Government should at least train some people from our district to handle work at health facilities which are hard-to-reach ,” Bwire said before adding that they used to boast their incomes with fishing but the army has taken up all landing sites in the district.
However, Bwire called upon government to also improve on the faces of some Health centers and equip them with drugs.
