Woman raped and murdered in Kamwenge district

KAMWENGE, UGANDA: Police in Kamwenge district are investigating circumstances under which a 48 year-old woman was raped and murdered by yet to be known assailants.

The deceased has been identified as Medius Ayebare, a wife to Fulgence Beyanga, all residents of Nyanchwamba1 cell, Masaka ward, Kamwenge town council in Kamwenge district.

It’s alleged that on the sixth of this month, the deceased left her home for casual work in someone’s garden and after work, she went to Nyanchwamba trading center to drink alcohol. While in the bar, she was involved in a bar brawl with a one Kiconco, who threatened to hit her head with a stone. The two were separated and the deceased went to her home in the evening hours to sleep.

According to a police statement released by the Kamwenge District Police Commander Diana Namutunzi, it has been reported that her husband, Beyanga, later came and joined her in bed and in the middle of the night, he woke up only to find his wife missing.

The statement further reads that Beyanga did not bother looking for his woman since he knew she was drunk and anytime she would find her way home. But on 7 November while at his work roasting pork, Beyanga got information that his wife had been discovered dead in the banana plantation.

DPC Namutunzi says the scene of crime was visited but because it was already tempered with, they could not use their dog to trace the criminals. The DPC says the deceased’s body was naked with all signs that she had been brutally raped and murdered.

The body was taken to Rukunyu hospital mortuary for postmortem. Police has confirmed the arrest of two suspects to help in investigations.
