Prime Minister Warns Hoima District Local Govt Leaders on increased corruption

HOIMA, UGANDA: The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja has expressed concern over the high corruption tendencies in the Hoima District Local Government.

Hon. Nabbanja expressed this during her invitation by the former Hoima Municipality Legislator Dr. Lawrence Bategeka celebrating 7 years anniversary of Glory Summit Hotel and exchanging views on how to develop the Bunyoro region after the discovery of Oil and Gas in the region.

“I well know that some government officials in Hoima District Local Government are not utilizing their offices but as government we are going to fight such tendencies through punishing those found guilty, and as a Prime Minister I will honor any invitation from Hoima even if it is a Local Council Chairperson’s meeting”. Said the Prime Minister.

Nabanja also responded to the queries about the Bunyoro University that the issue is already being worked on by the President of Uganda. “The the issue of Bunyoro University, is already on the president’s table and we are waiting him to confirm our delegates we sent as Bunyoro Parliamentary Corcus and soon the President confirm them and orders the Ministry of Education and Sports to organize for it’s operation,” she said.

Meanwhile Dr. Lawrence Bategeka the former Hoima Municipality Legislator asked government to sensitize the Banyoro especially among women and the youths on how to effectively utilize the opportunities that may come up due to the discovery of Oil and Gas in the Albertine region.

“Hon. Prime Minister the partnership between private sector and Government in terms of driving forward the Development of the Oil and Gas sector there should be a consideration of Local content where by private Local firms and workers should have a special consideration” Said Hon Lawrence Bategeka.

The Prime Minister for Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Hon. Andrew Byakutaga asked stakeholders to make good the Hoima Oil city preparations so as to enable development.
