Kagadi VHTs, LC chairpersons storm district offices over unpaid Covid 19 allowances

KAGADI, UGANDA: Over 30 people including VHTs and Village chairpersons from various Sub counties in Kagadi District stormed the district offices claiming for their Covid 19 allowances.

Kagadi District received 510 million shillings from the ministry of health to support village Health teams(VHT) in the district during the Covid 19 pandemic.

According to the ministry of health, VHTs were to receive 150000/= and village chairpersons to get 100000/= in July 2021 to support them the management of Covid 19 pandemic tasks but since then, they have never received this money which forced them to storm the district offices demanding for their money.

The angry mob threatened to sleep at the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner’s office until their issues are solved.
“We are going to sleep at the RDC’s office until our issues are solved since we have no transportation us back to our homes. ” Said the angry VHTs.

Lilian Ruteraho the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner asked them to go back to their homes and she is to solve the issue very soon.
“I as an RDC of Kagadi District, am assuring you that am going to investigate on this issue and shall be solved too soon”. Ruteraho said.
