KIKUUBE, UGANDA: Police in Kikuube is investigating circumstances under which a group of unknown assailants shot to death a daily pump attendant at Pastor’s fuel station in Kyangwali resettlement camp, Kikuube District.
The deceased identified as Pacifi Karole, a Congolese national was gunned down by assailants on Tuesday night at around 8pm at the fuel station located in Kyebitaka village near Pifoti Primary school in the refugee settlement.
According to sources close to the scene of crime, the assailants first asked Pacifi for money but when he refused to handover the money they shot him to death.
Sources allege that the assailants after the shooting they took off and residents on their alert, immediately started the search for the assailants but they could not find them.
Residents managed to recover a motorcycle at a Boda Boda stage near the pump station which they suspect to have been left behind by the assailants.
Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying the assailants were dressed in black clothes and masks armed with one gun according to CCTV footage captured.
“Police has started the search of the suspects who are on the run and if caught they will he be charged”. Hakiza said.
Pacifi’s body has been taken to Kyangwali health center iv for a postmortem as police deepen investigations to nab the assailants.
