HOIMA, UGANDA: David Timbigamba the Hoima District Drugs inspector has expressed concern over the increased illegal selling of Human drugs in the district.
Tibingana says the activity is common in the Sub counties of Kigorobya, Buseruka, Kabale in Hoima District.
“This problem is affecting various people especially the local community and needs an immediate sensitization of the public to stop buying drugs from non authorized drug outlets”. Timbigamba said.
He says people who are buying drugs from these drug shops are risking their lives since these drugs are kept according to the set standards.
“Some medicine need special stores but most of these drug shops do not have the equipment to preserve these drugs so as to keep them in a good condition and at time people buy these products, they are already spoilt this leads to the drugs’ failure to work accordingly and creates fear to the district health department”. Timbigamba added.
Timbigamba later called for a collective effort to all the Hoima District health stakeholders so as to curb this nice.
The NDA recently closed over 178 drug shops in Bunyoro region which were illegally selling both human and animal drugs in their campaign that lasted for two weeks.
