KAGADI: 4 Pastors arrested for holding end of year prayers

KAGADI, UGANDA: Police in Kagadi has arrested 4 Pastors attached to China deliverence Churches for holding end of year night prayers.

The four pastors led by Bishop Robert Kasibante were arrested on Friday night as they were holding night prayers to welcome the new year 2022 which was against the guidelines set by the National security.

It is alleged that on Friday, Kasibante along with other four pastors visited the Kagadi Central Police station requesting for their approval to hold end of year night prayers which police denied.

However, Kasibante with collegues went ahead and organized a night prayer where they were arrested by police.

As the Kagadi Police was carrying out night patrols on Friday night, they managed to arrest 46 people including four pastors who were leading hundreds of christians.

However Bishop Kasibante says some people had not yet got information that police has cancelled all night prayers and this forced them to come in large numbers for prayers.

“We had an end of year night prayer, but at the time Police spokesperson Enanga informed the cancellation of all end of year night prayers, some did not get the information because some of our followers come from up county and they have no Radio receivers so they had to come”. Bishop KKasibante said.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson has confirmed the arrest of 46 people including the four pastors who led the night prayers.

“We have arrested 46 people for holding end of year night prayers including four pastors who were the ring leaders of the group and they are currently detained at Kagadi Central Police station”. Hakiza said.
