KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: A 27-year-old man has committed suicide by hanging himself in Kakumiro District.
The deceased has been identified as Robert Asaba a resident of Kasambya village in Katikara sub county. His body was found hanging on a mango tree at his parents’ home at around 10 am on Sunday.
Asaba’s mother suspects the son was attacked by demons since he has been for long threatened to commit suicide.
“He came to my house at around 10pm and he told me to look after his children, and I asked myself where is he going, and then his colleagues woke up and checked out in the house and he was nowhere to be seen and as they tried to search for him, he was found hanging on a mango tree nearby our home and he has been for long threatening to end his life,” she said.
John Ssemaka the Kasambya village chairperson described the deceased as a humble citizen.
Everest Kabagambe the Katikara sub county chairperson and the sub county speaker have urged residents to seek counseling before ending their lives in such a manner.
“We received bad news that one of our colleagues have committed suicide and it was a big surprise to us because it is unusual for a young man to hang himself so am calling upon my people to always seek advice in case of any challenge other than committing suicide because suicide is a bad act and creates a bad image in the community and also reduce on alcoholism”. Ssemaka said.
