HOIMA: Teacher arrested for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old pupil

According to Hakiza, on 27th January 2022, Obiga raped the young girl who is a pupil at Mother Cloudia Primary school and also neighbors the school.

HOIMA, UGANDA: Police in Hoima city has arrested a teacher attached to Mother Cloudia Primary school in Bujumbura cell for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old pupil. The arrested has been identified as George Obiga residing in Hoima city.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson has confirmed the arrest of the teacher.
According to Hakiza, on 27th January 2022, Obiga raped the young girl who is a pupil at Mother Cloudia Primary school and also neighbors the school.

“After receiving several complaints from the girl’s parents, security personnel rushed to take action and later arrested Mr. Obiga who is currently detained at Hoima Central Police station and will be taken to court for rape cases after police investigations”. Hakiza said.

In a related development, Police in Hoima is also hunting another teacher attached to Yana Primary school in Hoima city for allegedly raping 14-year-old girl. The suspected teacher has been identified as one Leopold who is currently at large.

According to Hakiza, on 26th January 2022, Leopold met the young girl at Hoima Central market and persuaded her to his home where they slept together overnight.

Reports suggest that the 14-year-old returned back home on the following date and her mother asked her to explain where she had slept last night.

After too much pressure on the girl by the mum, the girl revealed to have slept to her teacher’s home and further explained that during the night, her teacher forced her to have sex with him.
“Her mother reported the case to police and police has started the hunting for this teacher who is still at large”. Hakiza said.
