“It’s alleged that Moses Tenywa sold land in Kaliro district and used money in things which doesn’t benefit the family and when the wife tried to blame the husband, he turned against her in anger and stabbed her to death”

Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson ASP James Mubi confirmed the incident

“We are moving step by step to see that Moses Tenywa is arrested and prosecuted. It’s alleged that today’s night, he murdered his wife Nalongo Annet Nabirye using a knife, he stabbed her by the head and died after serious bleeding,” Mubi said on Friday.

Police rushed to the seen and managed to document some evidence before ferrying the body to Jinja regional referral hospital as investigations take shape.
“We went at the scene to get more information and evidence. The body is in the mortuary at Jinja regional referral hospital as we proceed with investigations into this matter,” Mubi added.

Preliminary findings according to ASP James Mubi points out domestic violence between the two parties.
“It’s alleged that Moses Tenywa sold land and used money in things which don’t benefit the family and when the wife tried to blame him, he turned against her in anger and stabbed her to death.”

Mr Mubi via a social media post has called on the general public to kindly contact any nearest police office for possible arrest and prosecution in case they know the whereabouts of the said murder suspect.

“Whoever knows the whereabouts of this murder suspect, kindly contact the nearest police for possible arrest and prosecution. The deceased is called Nalongo Annet Nabirye. They have been having six children, now left to mother nature,” ASP Mubi wrote on a WhatsApp group.

However, the public has been called upon to desist from such ugly behaviours which do not match with the current period of rent and Ramadan.
“We call upon Christians that we are in a rent period where we need to fast, repent, pray and worship God. Let us be Christians inside and outside not to be mere Christians outside yet we carry sins inside. When we are Christians inside and outside then we shall be secure because Moses Tenywa wouldn’t do such a ruthless act if he was a true christian inside and outside,” Mubi appealed.

Meanwhile, Daily Express has learnt that the husband (Moses Tenywa) had dug a hole where to dump and bury his wife just 20 metres away from their main house.

The Uganda Police Annual Crime report 2020 raises a concern over the increase of Domestic Violence cases among others. For example, the report indicates that 17,664 cases of Domestic Violence were reported to Police compared to 13,693 reported in 2019, giving a 29% increase.
What is particularly alarming, however, is that the Criminal Investigations Directorate report shows that murder from domestic violence increased by over 20% in the period January through April, 2020.
