JINJA, UGANDA: Property worth millions of shillings have been destroyed after fire gutted Kakira Sugar warehouse stores in Jinja District on Friday evening.

The fire whose cause was yet to be established is reported to have consumed everything in the two storied supplies department.

According to reports, fire trucks as many as three were by 10pm (EAT) still fighting to contain the raging inferno that was about to spread to other departs of the company, including the main sugar mill.

Police was yet to issue a statement in the fire at the time of writing this report but it is anticipated that the fire if not contained would expose even the multi-billion shillings distillery where Kakira makes gins, spirts and whiskeys — all highly flammable products.
