If you give a man a fish, you will have fed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you have will have fed him for good. This is why KCB  and partners are practicing what the 21st century needs to be as away of calming down the high rate of unemployment and exploitation among the vulnerable youth while promoting self-dependence.

Under the Twekozese campaign which started early this year, over 2000 youth will benefit with skills in carpentry, welding, plumbing, masonry and electrical installation for a period of 2 years

The skills in construction sector will enable the youth to be absorbed into formal employment and provides better quality for enterprise development in uganda as it moves to acheive its vision.

Among the beneficiciaries, I met mr. Chiana Wilbert at Kash furniture workshop in kakoba Mbarara city who is doing industrial training got a chance to be in the first cohort at Nyamitanga technical institute which was among the chosen institutions to train the youth under the skilling program.

Mr. Chiana displays one of his products

He has completed his 3 months classroom upskilling where he underwent DIT modular assessment and currenty doing industrial which will introduce him to the feild of work in carpentry works that will last for 3  months to earn expected skills and DIT grade one certificate.

Mr. Wilbert appreciates the partners and KCB for considering safety first ahead of a scholarship. He says training without safety equipments cann’t secure anyone’s safety. ‘’I further thank the co-ordinators of KCB mostly mr. Jonathan kyetume ,mr.Alberrick and madam Beutrace for mentorship’’ he said.

I would like to thank the government of uganda for the  financial support to skill school dropouts and other vulnerable  through twekozese as away of reducing poverty and creating wealth through construction sector.

Other organisations and institutions should join the race  and we use skills to mask the generation gaps for skilled world.
