The 19-year-old US-based athlete posted a time of 20.35, his second fastest at Heyward Field in a fast-paced Heat 2 of the semifinals on Tuesday night but could not make the cut for the finals.

Orogot contested against USA’s duo, defending champion Noah Lyles and 2020 Olympic silver medalist Kenneth Bednarek who all made the top two, with Jereem Richards and fourth placed Luxolo Adams completing the final set.

Having finished a finalist at the World U20 Athletics Championship last year in Nairobi, Orogot celebrated his first senior championship as he marked a record 13th place at the World Athletics Championships.

The University of Alabama freshman who holds the national record over 200m set at the same track last month will be impressed with his performance at his first ever World Championships.
