LIRA, UGANDA: A section of leaders in the Lango sub-region including the Resident District Commissioners have endorsed the first son Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a successor to his father, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
A group of youth calling themselves Muhoozi Army on Saturday launched their coordinating team for Lango sub region at a ceremony in Lira City saying this will help to mobilise support for first son Kainerugaba to be the next president of Uganda.
Speaking at the event, The National Chairman Muhoozi Army, Mr. Donald K Businge, said they came to commission the ground team who will mobilise support for Gen. Muhoozi.
Businge said they are calling themselves Muhoozi Army because they are foot soldiers moving to mobilise for Muhoozi and want him to be the next president of Uganda.
Asked if Muhoozi was willing to be president, Businge said it’s their work to make him willing.
Bob Kakuru, the National Vice Chairman of Muhoozi Army said they have hope that Muhoozi will be the next president of Uganda, adding that they are not campaigning for him as yet because he has not come out and not yet resigned from the army.
Judith Alyek, the Kole Woman MP and chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group said they are preparing to see the next president come.
“We want continuity and this is where it starts,” Alyerk said.
