New Vision Senior Editor fired for allegedly ‘harassing’ male interns

Reports suggest that his sacking was fueled by videos and pictures of him taken a few days ago as he partied away on a boat cruise on Lake Victoria.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Moses Serugo, a senior editor at Vision Group working with the New Vision paper has been sacked on allegations of ‘harassing’ junior reporters and interns, this website exclusively understands.

Serugo, who replaced DJ Bush Baby as the Head of Lifestyle and Entertainment at the government-owned publication was asked to leave industrial area-based head offices last Friday after a heap of complaints from his juniors continuously pinned him for mistreating them.

According to an unnamed official who preferred anonymity in this story, the Human Resource office at New Vision had been receiving complaints from rookie reporters and interns about the misconduct of the seasoned editor but many times dismissed them as untrue as they lacked evidence.

However, it was until three months ago when Serugo was captured on office CCTV attempting to ‘mistreat’ one of his juniors and this resulted in an incidence where no junior reporter was willing to work under him for those late-night assignments.

This publication couldn’t establish the kind of mistreatment Serugo was allegedly inflicting on his subordinates.

More reports inside the Vision Group suggest that the editor’s sacking was fueled by videos and pictures of him taken a few days ago as he partied away on a boat cruise on Lake Victoria.

“That boat cruise sealed his fate. Management couldn’t digest what was contained in the video,” said an official.

Further reports claim that Serugo’s seniors knowing his capabilities tried to counsel him but it was too late.
