Singer Lady Grace dies in car accident en-route to music concert

The nasty car accident happened on Thursday morning at around 3am at Namakata village, at River Mayanja along Semuto road in Nakaseke district, central Uganda.

A Ugandan artist identified as Lady Grace died on the spot and two others critically injured after the car they were traveling plunged into River Mayanja along Semuto-Matuga road en-route a music concert.

The nasty car accident happened on Thursday morning at around 3am at Namakata village, at River Mayanja along Semuto road in Nakaseke district, central Uganda.

Traffic Police Spokesperson, Ms Faridah Nampiima confirmed the report and said the accident was a result of reckless driving that made the car crash with a motorcycle overturning several times before plunging into the river.

“It is alleged that a motor vehicle registration number UBB 033K, a Toyota Wish lost control and overturned several times plunging into the river killing one person who was later identified as Lady Grace,” said Ms. Farida Nampiima in a police statement on Thursday afternoon.

Nampiima noted that the deceased was travelling with two other occupants identified as Alimpa Ronald and another only identified as’Ragga Fire’ who were rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for treatment by another artist called Hassan Nduga.

However, it has not yet been established who was driving the ill fated vehicle but police said the cause of the accident is yet to be established.

Some of the witnesses have however attributed the accident to the poor state of the road from Semuto to Matuga which is in a poor condition.
