25-yr-old man kills brother over pig, hands self to police

The suspect told the police officers who were around that the deceased had killed his pig, so with a lot of annoyance, he decided to get a panga and also cut him to death

FORT PORTAL, UGANDA: Police in Fort Portal City, Western Uganda are holding a 25-year-old man who handed himself to the forces after hacking to death his brother he accused of killing his pig.

The suspect identified as Moses Karatunga is said to have killed his Charles Mutegeki after the latter allegedly invaded his home on Monday and killed his pig which annoyed him and got a panga, then cut him into pieces.

Both the suspect and deceased are residents of Kinyangende village, Nyabuswa Parish, Mugusu Sub County in Kabarole District.

“The suspect told the police officers who were around that the deceased had killed his pig, so with a lot of annoyance, he decided to get a panga and also cut him to death,” Rwenzori West Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Vincent Twesige said in a Tuesday statement.

Mr Twesige said the suspect was immediately arrested and forwarded to Fort Portal North Central Police Station together with the exhibit.

Police detectives who visited the scene of the crime found the deceased with severe cuts all over the body.

Similar incidents

In August this year, a 20-year-old man in Bundibugyo District killed his brother for allegedly invading his garden to steal his Cocoa pods.

The suspect who is currently on remand was guarding his garden when his brother Vincent Tumwine came into his garden, he grabbed him and started cutting him into pieces until his death.
