NAIROBI, KENYA: Uganda’s high commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles, Dr Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, has died according to reports from Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
Mr Galiwango was pronounced dead on Monday morning at Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted with an undisclosed illness.
Dr Galiwango was appointed to the position of Kenya’s High Commissioner in October 2020 and has been serving concurrently as the Ugandan ambassador to Seychelles as well as the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Program and UN-HABITAT.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs under which the late’s docket falls confirmed the development and said burial arrangements would be “communicated in due course”.
Tributes from government officials and high-profile politicians in the country have since Monday morning been flowing on various social media platforms about the Ambassador whom many have described as a great support system.
He was also the former long-serving director of finance and administration at the NRM secretariat prior to his ambassadorial appointment.
He is(was) husband to Mbale City Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Connie Nakayeze Galiwango.
