KABALE, UGANDA: Police in Kabale District have arrested a 78-year-old man for alleged incest with his 13 year old grand daughter.
Edward Katarikawe, a resident of Kagona village Kavu parish of Maziba sub county Kabale district, is accused of having carnal knowledge with the 13-year-old girl.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate on Monday confirmed the report and said that the incident took place on Saturday morning at around 08:00hrs when the girl had been sent by the mother to the neighborhood to get beans.
As she was returning home, the girl met with his father Mr Katarikawe who forcefully grabbed her to the banana plantation and defiled her.
Maate explained that the matter was reported to police by an eye witness who red handedly saw Katarikawe defiling the minor.
Maate said that a case of aggravated defilement was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number CRB 217/2022 to help in investigations.
He added that the suspect will be taken to court and charged accordingly as soon as police concludes with the investigations into the case.
