One killed, another injured after speeding Benz crashes near Kabalagala Police

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Police in Kampala has registered a fatal accident along Ggaba Road after a speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into a police station at Kabalagala Police Station on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Traffic and Road Safety Spokesperson Ms Faridah Nampiima, the incident happened at around 3pm when a speeding Mercedes Benz UBG 811C heading to Kampala from Gaba side failed to negotiate the corner before veering into Kabalagala Police Station and hit the cars in the parking lot.

“The deceased was driving from Gaba side heading to Kampala at a high speed but failed to negotiate the corner at Kabalagala Police Station. [He] lost control, hit parked vehicles at the station, killing him instantly and seriously injuring the co-driver,” she said in a statement.

The driver’s body was taken to City Mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem examination while the injured victim was moved to Nsambya Hospital for treatment.
