MBALE, UGANDA: The Bishop Emeritus of North Mbale Diocese in Mbale district, Rt. Rev Daniel Othniel Wonasolo Gimadu is dead.
According to reports, Bishop Gimadu died on Wednesday at around 11 pm at Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital where he had spent a week undergoing an undisclosed illness.
Unconfirmed reports say the bishop succumbed to pneumonia.
The late served as the Bishop of the North Mbale Diocese from 2006 to 2014 until he was succeeded by the current Bishop Rt. Rev Samuel Gidudu.
During his tenure, Bishop Gimadu trained and raised numerous clergy leaders through various training programs promoted mission work and encouraged greater involvement in church-founded schools.
According to Bishop Gidudu, a requiem mass in honor of the late will be held at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero at 11 am on Friday, followed by another service at the Bishop’s home in Mbale City.
North Mbale Diocese is one of 37 Dioceses that form the Province of the Church of Uganda.
