LIRA, UGANDA: Parents and guardians at Lira Town College have hailed the school headteacher Ms Sophie Rose Acen for constructing a perimeter wall fence which has improved the discipline among the students.
A number of parents who spoke to DailyExpress could not hide their happiness on the level of good and improved discipline at Lira College as term two re-opens.
Adong Dokas 43 year old parent of Anai appreciated the Headteacher for the wonderful development coming up in the school especially the fencing of the school.
The School Headteacher, Ms Acen in an interview with this publication decried the low turn-up of students but was very appreciative of the level of discipline that is greatly improving among the students.
Ms Acen attributed the low turn-up to generally poor parents who cannot afford to pay school fees on time.
She added that much as there are challenges in fees payment, parents should take their children back to school and negotiate with school administration for fees balances.
“As the school, we still experience some challenges in slow fees payment by some parents although the student’s turn up is improving this second term and also there is a challenge we are getting in school fees payment students are coming but without school fees, I think parents are generally poor,” Acen Stated
Acen said that with the development that they have put in place by putting a Wall fence the discipline of the students which was declining sometimes back has improved a lot compared to the past and they are working harder to maintain the behaviour and moral conduct of the students in the school.
“People have been complaining about the behaviours of our students but with the development that we have put in place we have started seeing improvement the discipline of our students has improved,” she stated.
The school has also rewarded four students from every class from senior one-six more, especially others who are on full and half bursaries based on their performance in class and other activities conducted in the school.
