Kikuube man burnt to ashes over theft of motorcycle

It is alleged that on the fateful day, Tom stole a Bajaj motorcycle from one of the Boda bodas in Kitikara town council in Kakumiro district and rode the motorcycle heading to Buhimba town council.

KIKUUBE, UGANDA: Residents of Musaijamukuru cell in Musaijamukuru parish, Buhimba Sub-county, Kikuube District on Monday burnt a suspected motorcycle thief into ashes after he was found in possession of a stolen motorcycle.

The incident occurred in the afternoon at around 1 pm in Musaijamukuru trading centre with the deceased identified by one name; Tom a resident of Kisiiha village, Kakooge parish, Buhimba Sub-county in Kikuube District.

According to preliminary reports, it is alleged that on the fateful day, Tom stole a Bajaj motorcycle from one of the Boda bodas in Kitikara town council in Kakumiro district and rode the motorcycle heading to Buhimba town council.

However, the owner of the stolen motorcycle notified his fellow Boda bodas in Buhimba Sub-county who intercepted Tom in Musaijamukuru trading centre on Buhimba-Kakumiro Road while on his way to Buhimba town council and started hitting him up with stones and later burnt him to ashes.

According to the residents, Tom has been a notorious thief in the Sub-county and had terrorised several residents until today when he met his fate.

“We know him as a notorious thief and he has made many residents of the area lose their properties due to his habits his family is also known to be a family of thieves since 3 of his brothers were also lynched by residents a few years ago due to theft,” they said.

Meanwhile, at the time of this report, police were yet to release any statement about the matter and the body of the deceased was picked up by police and taken to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
