Nile Breweries appoints Onapito Ekomoloit as new Board Chairperson

Uganda’s leading beer manufacturer, Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) has appointed Mr Onapito Ekomoloit as the new Board Chairperson effective June 1, 2023.

Ekomoloit who has been the Legal and Corporate Affairs Director at NBL for the last 17 years prior replaces Elly Karuhanga as the company’s Board Chairman.

According to the company statement, Onapito is credited for “engaging a multitude of private and public sector players over the years in relation to the alcohol industry” and “spearheading Nile Breweries Ltd’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives” during his reign as the company’s legal and corporate affairs director.

In appointing Onapito to the most senior role, NBL said his engagements with several players in the alcohol industry have helped to boost the company’s corporate image.

Meanwhile, NBL has appointed Emmanuel Njuki to take over Onapito’s legal and corporate affairs managerial role.

Commenting on his latest appointment, Ekomoloit said, “It is an honour to continue serving our company.”

About Onapito

Onapito, a former Makerere University lecturer previously served as the press secretary to President Museveni and a Member of Parliament representing Amuria as well as a journalist with Daily Monitor.

Prior to Nile Breweries, Onapito who is also the sitting Chair, of the Uganda Alcohol Industry Association, served as Press Secretary to President Yoweri Museveni, a Member of the 6th Parliament, representing Amuria County.
