Burial Programme of Justice Stella Amoko Released

The late Justice Stella Amoko will be laid to rest on Friday, June 23, 2023, at her ancestral home in Arra village, Omi parish in Pachara sub-county.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Judiciary has released the official funeral programme of the late Justice Stella Arach-Amoko who died last Saturday at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

According to the funeral programme, the body of the late Justice Amoko will today (Tuesday, June 20) be presented for a special court session at the Supreme Court Headquarters where she served at 2 pm, and later a vigil held at her residence in Kinawataka, Nakawa division at 6 pm.

On Wednesday, June 21, a Requiem mass in memory of the late will be held at Our Lady of Africa, Mbuya at 9 am, and a parliament session later in the day at 2 pm for the state funeral service.

On Thursday, June 22, the casket of the late will be transferred to her home district in Adjumani for a joint West Nile Districts Council session at the district headquarters at 2 pm, and at from 6 pm onwards, a vigil will be held at Una Central Village, Una Parish, Pachara sub-county in Adjumani district.

Justice Amoko joined the Judiciary in 1997 as a judge of the High Court and was elevated to Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2010, was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2012 a position she served until she breathed her last.

The Judiciary has described her as an extraordinary Judge who was no doubt a champion of justice.
