KIBAALE, UGANDA: The Kibaale District RDC, Angalia Godwin has appreciated the great work being done by the oil and gas sector, especially for the people within the vicinity of their operation.
“This weekend, I supplied watermelon to Oil/gas company from my farm in Buliisa. I really appreciate the oil/ gas companies operating in Uganda for the support they are giving to the local farmers within the Country and for respecting the idea of Local Local Content”, Mr Angalia noted.
He further stated that 95 per cent of employees in oil and gas are Ugandans and recently the Government of Uganda handed over 105 houses, titles and agricultural equipment to Project Affected Persons (PAPs) who were displaced during the identification of land for the construction of the Tilenga project.
“In Tilenga project alone, PAPs have undergone various livelihood improvement programs, fruits tree farming, beekeeping, livestock rearing, vocational skills and job opportunities”, Angalia noted.
He appealed to local farmers within the Region to step up and do the same so as to improve the standard of living through local trade with the oil and gas companies.
