LAMWO, UGANDA: The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Lamwo district Mr Oguti Sebastian has applauded the Northern Uganda Development of Enhanced Local Governance, Infrastructure and Livelihoods (NUDEIL) for the work well done in the construction of schools in Ogako-Lacan and Madi-Opei Primary School.
Mr Oguti who doubles as the Deputy Dean of RDCs made the remarks while commissioning a project funded by USAID on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Madi Opei, Padibe East county.
“Today we are receiving 12 classrooms, 8 teachers’ houses, 10 stances of latrines, 216 desks distributed in the two schools and 8KM road in Katum. This is because of the good working relationship between Uganda and the USA, we must appreciate it, as we celebrate 60 years of relationship with the people of America,” Mr Oguti said.
The Deputy RDC noted that the construction of classrooms in those schools is in line with the NRM policy to secure the future of Ugandans which is key among others including prioritizing Education.
“The schools now have a good learning environment and there is no reason for our children not to have an improvement in performance since you have enough teachers, with the support of other stakeholders like parents and the pupils themselves,” he noted.
“Government is committed to providing services to our people but you must maintain what you are receiving today because we don’t have resources to get back here in the near future,” added Mr Oguti.
The USAID Mission Director Mr Richard Nelson thanked Lamwo district for the high performance in the USAID projects in the district.
“There is real value for money. The USAID will keep working with Uganda in the areas that enhance local governance and infrastructure among others,” he said.
Lamwo District Vice Chairman Hon. Odongmadiki David emphasized the need to work together with both the technical and political wing.
The meeting on Tuesday was attended by a team from the Ministry of Local Government, USAID, Lamwo district, NUDEIL among others.
