KOTIDO, UGANDA: The Management of Gulu University has dispatched a team to Kotido Primary Teacher’s College (PTC) after the Ministry of Education and Sports directed the University to take over the management and upgrade the College.

The team led by Mr Obalim Christopher, the Deputy University Secretary are currently in Kotido to set the ground for the complete takeover of the former PTC and turn it into a Degree Awarding Campus of Gulu University.

This is in compliance with the Ministry of Education and Sports directive dated 9th February 2023 to Gulu University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof George Ladaah Openjuru empowering him to ensure Kotido PTC is improved and in full control of Gulu University effective of 2023/2024 academic year.

This also followed the government’s resolution to phase out all grade III teachers in Uganda, 23 non-core primary teachers colleges (PTC) in a move to implement the 2019 national teachers’ policy that requires all teachers to have a minimum of degree qualification.

The development is expected to go a long way in improving education standards in the Karamoja sub-region and the country at large.
