Police arrest key suspect in Kilwanyi murder case

MUBENDE, UGANDA: The Territorial Police in Mubende have arrested one Tumusiime Benjamin, a crucial suspect linked to a murder case in Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Subcounty, Mubende district.

The incident took place on July 31, 2023, around 08:00 AM, when Namutebi Milly Naava, her husband, Abudalah Kayezi, and their two sons, Ssekamate Muzafaru and Ibrahim Kaluma, were ambushed by a group of approximately 30 individuals, with Tumusiime Benjamin leading the group.

Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, Ms Racheal Wama confirmed the incident which she said occurred while the victims were leaving Tumusiime Benjamin’s home, resulting in the tragic death of Namutebi Milly Naava and her husband.

In the process, Ms Kawala says the two sons sustained serious injuries but managed to escape and are currently receiving medical attention.

“Tumusiime Benjamin was successfully apprehended today, August 6, 2023, at around 10:00 AM by a joint task team consisting of CID and Crime Intelligence in Watuba town, Wakiso,” Ms Kawala said, adding that the prime suspect is currently in custody at Mubende Central Police Station pending further investigation.

According to Ms Kawala, so far, a total of six suspects have been arrested in connection to this murder case, while further inquiries are ongoing.
