PICTORIAL: ONC’s Namyalo donates accommodation materials to Excel Vocational School after fire tragedy

LUWERO, (UG): Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Head of ONC (Office of the National Chairman – NRM) yesterday donated over 100 blankets, 50 mattresses and 30 bags of cement to Excel Vocational Training Centre after a recent fire tragedy that befell the school.

Excel Vocational School, located in Kalule – Luwero district in May this year suffered a disastrous fire outbreak which left millions of student properties burnt to ashes, although no fatalities were recorded in the incident.

On Monday, August 07, 2023, Hajjat Namyalo with a team of coordinators in the ONC paid courtesy to the school and donated accommodation materials to help the staff and students recover from the shock.

“I have carried along accommodation items; 100 blankets, 50 mattresses and 30 bags of cement as a response to the tragedy and we look forward to acquiring more support to enable the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni to have a safe learning environment,” said Hajjat Namyalo while handing over the assortment of accommodation materials to the director and staff.

The ONC Boss further expressed sympathy to the school Director Mr Mwanje Shafik and the school administration about the adversity of the fire outbreak and asked God to eliminate such evil-hearted people fighting development.

Hajjat Namyalo also assured the students that a person with a talent or skill is 50% far better than someone who has acquired university knowledge with skills.

“President Museveni emphasizes to them to boost the skilling of Youth because it is an assured approach to solve unemployment through self-employment based on the skills possessed by an individual,” Hajjat Namyalo said citing a network of Presidential skilling hubs spread all over different regions to intensify the equipment of skills to the Youth.

Hajjat Namyalo also thanked Mr Mwanje and the management of Excel Vocational Training Centre for offering bursaries to the needy Bazzukulu and asked them to carry on the spirit.

Hajjat Namyalo urged the students to throng Kololo Independence Grounds in plenty come the 8th of September this year 2023 to celebrate the lifetime achievements of the National Chairman HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni under the theme “Developing the Culture of Entrepreneurship in Youths, women and the country at large”.

On behalf of the School, the Director Mr Mwanje Shafik who is also the Chairman of Endorsements for ONC’s Jajja Tova Ku Main Project informed Hajjat Namyalo how the school has grown in terms of numbers, with the current population now over 2000 students.

“Currently, we have 2120 students overall, and the majority of the Bazzukulu/students come from underprivileged families and we extend bursary offers to them,” said Mr Mwanje.

The Director said that ever since the tragedy befell the school, several entities are coming out to extend support to the school which keeps them motivated and focused on equipping the Bazzukulu with skills to enable them to create jobs and self-employment.

The joyful Mwanje thanked Hajjat Hadijah for the good contribution and assured her that they are to keep focused as the Management to achieve bigger goals than minding the evil-hearted individuals

Mr Mwanje asked parents to cease considering Vocational studies a path for failures in education and embrace it as a solution to unemployment and low innovation morale in the country.

Excel Vocational Training Centre has been in operation as a tertiary training institution for now 17 years and has made 11 graduation ceremonies with the most recent passing out 1327 graduates in different disciplines under the Vocational Studies arrangement and has created jobs for several Youths after their graduation.
