Uganda Airlines unveils Mobile App designed to ease flight booking

KAMPALA, (UG): Uganda Airlines, the National Flag Carrier has launched a Mobile App which among others provides a convenient way for travellers to book their flights among other carrier’s services.

Some of the mobile app features are the ability to easily book and pay for flights, check flight status and schedules.

The official launch of the Airlines Mobile App was held Tuesday, August 15, at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, an event that attracted aviation enthusiasts, stakeholders, and the media.

At the event, Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines said the introduction of the mobile app reiterates the airline’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience through modern technology.

She added that the digital app is a key milestone as the airline strives to improve its service delivery, ensuring a convenient and user-friendly booking and ticketing process and an overall delightful buyer experience for its customers.

“The launch of the app means the customer is going to be able to seamlessly book a ticket on the app, pay for the ticket, check-in, and print the boarding pass,” Ms Bamuturaki said.

According to Ms Bamuturaki, usually, the customer would have to call the call centre to book a ticket, but now with the app in play, one is able to interact with strictly Uganda Airlines virtually and also be able to choose when they want to fly and also choose the flight.

The Uganda Airlines mobile app boasts a user-friendly interface designed to make travel planning, booking, and managing itineraries effortless. At only 23 MBs of the download size, the app can be got from both the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store.

The app offers a range of features, including flight booking, real-time updates, check-in services, viewing personal flight details, and the ability to access digital boarding passes.

According to Bamuturaki, the digital version of the app is a reflection of the airline’s dedication to modernizing travel and embracing technological advancements.

“We acknowledge that airline guests rely heavily on their mobile phones for their regular activities, including travel, and it’s, therefore, essential for us to provide convenience with this new App in the palm of every traveller,” she said.

She adds that the app is designed to simplify travel for clients, thanks to its unique features which include; “the ability to easily book and pay for flights, Check flight status and schedules, view personal flight details, Check-in for flights, and enrolment for the CraneFlyer Frequent Flyer program.”

With security being a top priority, the Airlines app is further equipped with robust encryption and authentication measures to safeguard passenger data and ensure a secure booking and payment process.

As the aviation industry continues to evolve, officials say the introduction of the Uganda Airlines mobile app underscores the airline’s commitment to staying at the forefront of digital transformation.

Uganda Airlines which officially resumed operations in 2019 was awarded the World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award, given by Ch-Aviation in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
