OPINION: Bobi Wine wrong to think abuses and personal attacks can overthrow Museveni

By Akampa Tanbull

Well, I have been following Mr Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine’s country wide tours with some of his party members, but I think he is getting more frustrated each and every day because of the Police not stopping his rallies, nor disrupting them even when his group or gangs have even tried to provoke the Police and other security agencies.

Our security personnel, Police and UPDF Officers have kept civil and left him and his gangs to disrupt traffic flow and even at times assault and abuse some innocent citizens in all the towns/districts they have visited.

As if this is not enough, Mr Kyagulanyi has continued to give speeches that promote tribalism, sectarianism, hate and inciting violence in Citizens.

For example, during his recent upcountry tour in Mayuge district, he claimed that the Government of NRM has killed people yet the cardinal role of a democratically elected Government is to protect the lives and property of its Citizens, a reason why the NRM Government has been voted into leadership every after five years.

Last Friday while in Luwero, Mr Bobi abused the persona of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa. He alleged that Museveni is a killer, same as his son Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba and that they are planning to kill him too in disguise of bomb threats!

This shows how shallow Mr Bobi Wine is, and how one politicizes terrorism yet it affects many lives. God for bid, if a bomb exploded at Bobi’s rally, would he blame the Government of Uganda? Or as Ugandans, we would blame Bobi for not taking security advice and acting accordingly since the security agencies have the mandate to protect the lives of all Ugandans?

Bobi Wine could be planning to harm the lives of many Ugandans including himself so as to continue tarnishing the image of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Government and that of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa.

Bobi is taking President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa’s tolerance for granted and continuously provoking security agencies so that he is arrested to hype his political capital/relevancy.

He is taking advantage of the ignorant fans who do not understand or appreciate the historical background of our Country Uganda, the peace that was ushered in by the blood of those Patriotic Ugandans who died in the battles of Katonga, Kabamba, Luwero among other areas.

It is now crystal clear that people like Bobi Wine are being used by foreign forces to destabilize Uganda.

Ugandans must Shan politics of hate, tribalism, and sectarianism, but focus on how to unite towards building a better Uganda.

Mr Bobi Wine lacks sense of a clear direction that Uganda should take, he is running a bubble campaign of hate speech across the country, and this will not take him anywhere. The more he continues to expose himself, the more Ugandans will get to know him and eventually isolate him especially now that the majority of people both the young and adults in upcountry Districts look at him as a performing artist/musician, it’s a matter of time.

Ugandans must concentrate on improving household incomes by tapping into some of the current Government programmes and the prevailing peaceful environment.

A better Uganda is still possible even under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
For God & my Country Uganda.
