UMU thumps Kabale 3-0 to continue dominance in University Football League

University Football League (UFL)
Friday, 13th October, Uganda Martyrs University 3-0 Kabale University

In an exhilarating match-up in the Pepsi University Football League, Group A leaders Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Friday secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Kabale University to stamp its dominance in the Varsity competition.

Despite facing challenges, including a red card for Vincent Masumbuko, UMU maintained their perfect start to the tournament and are now just a point away from securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

The game started with both teams showing early attacking intent. Kaija Sunny of Uganda Martyrs University made a promising run into the area, but his powerful shot was comfortably caught by Kabale University’s goalkeeper Akampa.

As the match progressed, Uganda Martyrs University’s Masumbuko broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, giving his team the lead. Just eight minutes later, Kaija scored the second goal, doubling the advantage for the Saints.

Although Ugandan Martyrs University continued to dominate, a fantastic strike from Kaija that seemed destined for the top corner was called offside. Kabale University’s Muzoora also had a chance to pull one back but sent his shot over the bar.

In the second half, Kaija had another opportunity to extend the lead but couldn’t generate enough power with his header. He later attempted a long-range shot that narrowly missed the target, showcasing his growing confidence and influence in the game.
