UFL: Bugema thump University of Kisubi in emphatic 3-0 win

Kampala, (UG): Bugema University emerged victorious with a resounding 3-0 win over the University of Kisubi (UNIK) in a thrilling Monday encounter of the Pepsi University Football League.

The match showcased an exceptional performance from Isaac Ssenyunja, who scored a brace to secure the win for the away side.

From the opening minutes, both teams displayed their attacking prowess, creating several scoring opportunities. 

Bugema came close to an early opener when Elakas Moses found Isaac Ssenyunja, but UNIK managed to clear the danger. As the game progressed, the away side’s dominance became evident.

Julius Kibukuna made a crucial save to deny Bugema an opening goal, and Ssebaale narrowly missed the target. 

However, in the 37th minute, Ssenyunja found the back of the net with a header, giving Bugema University a well-deserved lead.

Bugema continued to assert their dominance in the second half, and Ssenyunja once again made his mark by scoring his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute. The visitors now held a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Both teams had their chances to add to the scoreline, with Bugema’s Azizi Opio being denied by a last-ditch block from Odoi Livingstone.

However, in the 86th minute, Bugema University’s Ssentongo Suleiman Ali sealed their victory with a third goal.

With this win, Bugema University now tops Group A with nine points and an impressive goal difference of 12. 

They have overtaken Uganda Martyrs University, who now sit in second place with nine points and a goal difference of 6. Kabale University and the University of Kisubi currently occupy the third and fourth positions, respectively.

After his stellar performance, Isaac Ssenyunja, who currently has five goals in four games, expressed his joy and satisfaction at helping Bugema University secure their third victory.

“I am very happy to have contributed to our team’s win. It’s a great feeling to score a brace and help the team succeed. We promise our fans that we will continue to deliver positive results.”

Ssenyunja’s statement reflects the dedication and determination of Bugema University to perform at their best, not only for themselves but also for their loyal supporters.

Looking ahead, Uganda Martyrs University will face Kabale University in their upcoming match, which will be held in Kabale on Tuesday 13th October. The away side arrived safely in Kabale on Sunday and had their last training on Monday evening.

Additionally, the highly anticipated clash between Bugema University and Uganda Martyrs University will take place at the Bugema Arena in the next round. 

Football fans can certainly expect a thrilling battle between these two top teams in the Pepsi University football league.
