The Crested Cranes, Uganda’s national women’s football team will tomorrow (Tuesday at 7 pm) face off against Cameroon in the crucial second leg of the 2024 Paris Women’s Olympic Football Tournament qualifiers.

Interim head coach Charles Ayiekho Lukula has confirmed a formidable squad of 20 players who embarked on their journey to Cameroon, departing from Entebbe International Airport on Saturday at 2:45 AM via Ethiopian Airways.

The team made a brief stopover in Addis Ababa before finally reaching their destination in Douala, Cameroon, where the high-stakes game will take place.

With Uganda carrying a 2-0 lead from their previous encounter at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, the Crested Cranes are poised to defend their advantage in this crucial return leg scheduled for Tuesday.

The match marked a significant milestone for interim head coach Charles Ayiekho Lukula, who handed debuts to defender Justine Najjuko and midfielder Zaitun Namaganda.

The Crested Cranes have been hard at work in Douala, leaving no stone unturned in their preparations to face the formidable Indomitable Lionesses in the Women’s Olympic Football Qualifiers.

Adding a boost of motivation, FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim paid a visit to the team at Hotel Akwa, instilling a sense of unity and determination amongst the players.

The highly anticipated showdown between Cameroon and Uganda is set to unfold on the 31st of October at the electrifying Stade de la Reunification, Douala. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM local time (7:00 PM EAT).

The stakes are incredibly high, as the victor on aggregate between Uganda and Cameroon will advance to face either Nigeria or Ethiopia in the next phase of the 2024 Paris Women’s Olympic Football Tournament qualification.

The footballing world holds its breath as these formidable teams clash in a battle for Olympic glory.
