Masindi, (UG): The Territorial Police in the Albertine Region and Masindi CPS is holding a ruthless stepmother arrested on allegations of poisoning her three step-children, killing two and leaving one hospitalized.

The suspect identified as Komuhendo Harriet now faces charges of murder by poisoning after she killed two of her stepchildren, aged 8 and 6 and attempted murder by poisoning of a third victim, a 3-year-old victim, who is still getting treatment at Masindi General Hospital.

The incident according to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, happened on the 26th of October, 2023, at Kihaguzi “B” village in Labongo sub-county, Masindi District.

According to preliminary investigations, it is alleged that on the fateful day, the suspect gave the 3 siblings food laced with suspected poison before they became unconscious and were rushed to the district hospital for medical attention.

“Unfortunately, Katusiime Patience, an 8-year-old, female juvenile and Asobora James, a 5-year-old, male juvenile died. The third victim, Kyosaba Mary, aged 3 years is improving and out of danger, at Masindi General Hospital. We pray for her quick recovery,” Mr Enanga stated while addressing the media at Police Headquarters on Monday.

“We do strongly condemn such acts of brutality against innocent children, who have a right to life, by a mother who was supposed to nurture and provide for them,” he added.

According to Police, Komuhendo will upon conclusion of police investigations be charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
