UPDF FC 2-0 BUL FC

UPDF FC Thursday showcased their prowess on the field, securing a 2-0 victory against BUL FC in a thrilling showdown to end the league leaders’ winning street of the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign.

The match kicked off with a bang, as Bernard Muwanga netted a penalty in the 6th minute, setting the tone for UPDF FC’s dominant performance.

The second goal came courtesy of Sam Kintu in the 54th minute, leaving the opposing team struggling to catch up. BUL FC put up a valiant effort, but UPDF FC’s defence remained steadfast, preventing any breakthroughs. The halftime score stood at 1-0 in favour of the home side.

In the other fixture held at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku between SC Villa and Arua Hill SC, a minute of silence was observed to pay tribute to the late 2nd FUFA Vice President, Darius Mugoye, who passed away earlier in the week.

The sombre moment served as a reminder of the unity and camaraderie that binds the football community.

SC Villa demonstrated strength in the first division with a commanding 3-1 victory against Arua Hill SC at Full time.

Ronald Ssekiganda kicked off the scoring in the 47th minute, followed by Umar Lutalo’s goal in the 70th minute, and Peter Onzima sealed the deal in the 90th minute.

A late effort from Arua Hill SC saw Frank Kalanda netting a goal in the 90+3rd minute, but it was too little, too late. The match concluded with a final score of 3-1 in favour of SC Villa.

Despite their first loss of the season, Bul FC still leads the league table with 18 points, followed closely by Kitara Football Club with 15 points and Vipers SC with 14 points as the competition remains fierce for teams vying for the top spot.

UPDF climb to 9th place with 8 points after an emphatic victory against the log leaders.

As the matches unfolded, fans are for this round of fixture treated to a display of skill, determination, and sportsmanship, honouring the legacy of Darius Mugoye.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League continues to captivate audiences with its electrifying matches and passionate players.
