Abdallah Mubiru returns as new KCCA head coach ahead of Vipers clash

Kampala, (UG): KCCA FC have appointed versed tactician Abdallah Mubiru to become the new club head coach, DailyExpress Sports Desk understands.

A reliable source inside KCCA FC intimated to this publication that Mubiru is expected to ink to paper a two-year contract with thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions with the unveiling set today (Friday) during the clash with league rivals Vipers SC.

The source further affirms that the Lugogo-based club took its stance on maintaining the club’s identity in the decision-making process that saw Mubiru beat Alex Isabirye to the coaching role.

“The board took its time to ensure the preservation of the club’s essence,” the source asserted, adding that a desire to avoid a pattern of success followed by coaching changes also formed part of the key reasons for the decision to go with Mubiru.

“The objective is to choose a coach who resonates with the club’s style and contributes to team development.”

Mubiru comes in as a direct replacement for Portuguese national, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil, who was sacked after just four months in the seat, following woeful results in the league and the CAF Confederation Cup.

His most recent coaching role was at Tanzania Premier League side Mbeya City FC, which he left towards the start of the current 2023/24 season.

Mubiru’s immediate task at KCCA FC will be to lift the club out of the relegation zone as the Kasasiro Boys currently sit second from the bottom of the league table, with just one point in six matches.
