Uganda’s U18 boys national team on Sunday faced a tough start as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tanzania in their opening match of the CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship.

The game, held at Bukhungu Stadium in Kenya, witnessed a tightly contested battle between the two teams.

The match began with both sides showing early determination, with the scoreboard remaining unaltered during the initial 10 minutes.

Uganda’s defence put up a resilient performance, thwarting Tanzania’s attempts to break the deadlock.

However, at the 25-minute mark, Tanzania’s Sharif Wilson found the back of the net, putting his team in the lead.

The Ugandan squad faced a challenging task as they headed into halftime trailing 1-0.

After the break, Uganda U18 boys returned to the pitch with a renewed sense of vigour, seeking an equalizer.

Despite their efforts, the Tanzanian defence held firm, maintaining their lead throughout the second half.

As the clock ticked away, the 70th-minute mark arrived with Tanzania still holding onto their 1-0 advantage.

Despite late-game efforts from Uganda, they were unable to level the score.

The final whistle confirmed Tanzania’s 1-0 victory, marking a disappointing start for the Ugandan U18 boys in the CECAFA tournament.

The team will now regroup and focus on their upcoming matches as they aim to bounce back from this initial setback.
