KCB Nkumba Volleyball team up for redemption ahead of league second round

In a bid to seize the opportunity of an extended training period, KCB Nkumba’s Volleyball Head Coach, Tony Lakony, is eager as his team gears up for the second round of the 2023-2024 Series A Women’s National Volleyball League.

Having secured a third-place finish in the first round, trailing 2 points behind KCCA and 5 points behind table leaders Ndejje, the team returns on January 3rd to intensify preparations for the season’s second leg, commencing on January 21st.

Reflecting on the first round, Coach Lakony acknowledges both its successes and challenges, particularly for new team members.

“Round one was a challenge for the new players who joined us,” he remarked.

Undeterred by the past, Lakony expresses confidence in the upcoming matches.
“We are ready to win all games in the second round. In the first round, we didn’t win all games. We have to be stable, constant. I am proud of our receiving defense, but we still have to master blocking opponents’ attacks.” He stated

With the overarching goal of clinching the league title and representing Uganda in the African Club Championship, Coach Lakony highlights the crucial role of senior players in mentoring and aiding the development of younger teammates.

Despite grappling with numerous injuries, the team remains focused on improvement.

Coach Lakony outlines specific areas for enhancement, emphasizing a need to bolster the setting department and strengthen middle attacking.
